Without a doubt, Captain America is one of the best superheroes in comic book history. Time after time, against all odds he has come out on top. If you don't know his story, here's a quick recap. Steve Rogers was born on July 4, 1917 in New Your City. In the early days of World War II, Rogers tried to enlist in the army, only to be rejected due to his tall but scrawny physic. All Rogers ever wanted to do was to serve his country. An Army officer saw this and offered Rogers the chance to serve his country by taking part in a top-secret defense project. The project was called Operation: Rebirth, which hoped to develop a means of creating super soldiers. Rogers took the offer and became one of the test subjects. After trial and error, Rogers became the first successful test subject. His strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, and durability were taken to the highest limits of natural human potential. Steve Rogers was transformed from a frail young man to an almost "perfect" specimen. But this triumph was followed by tragedy when the doctor who created the super soldier serum was shot and killed by a Nazi spy. After seeing the doctor die right in front of him, Rogers vowed to oppose all Americas enemies. He was then given a uniform model after the American flag, an impenetrable shield and a code name: Captain America. With the help of his sidekick, James "Bucky" Barnes, Captain America when on to help the Allied forces against the Red Skull and the Nazis.
Together they won many of battles, but that would soon come to an end. While trying to defuse a bomb on a plane, Bucky was blown up and and believe dead. Captain America who was near by was launched into the cold Atlantic waters. Both bodies were never found, until decades later when the Avengers discovered Captain America's body frozen in a block of ice. The same serum that made him a super soldier also kept him alive. After he was revived, he was shocked to find out that he had been frozen in time for so long. While trying to re-adjust to this new world he was in, he realized there was still evil in the world. With his great combat and tactical knowledge, he soon became the leader of the Avengers. He picked up right where he had left off, only now he was fighting a new kind of evil.
So now that you know the history behind the legend, who do you think should play the man behind the mask? To me, there is one actor who I think was made for the part. That actor being Brendan Fraser. To be honest, I never of thought of him for the part until my friend Nadia brought it up. But once she did, it all made sense. Even though Fraser has done some cheesy movies in the past, he has also done some movies that I believe have been preparing him for this role, like The Mummy movies. He plays the kind of old school hero, has a pretty good build and knows how to fight. Not to mention that these movies take place in the 1920s and 30s. The same time period Steve Rogers grew up in. Which would help him relate to how things were back then. That brings me to my next movie, Blast From The Past. In this movie, Fraser play a guy who's parents decide to build and then live in a bomb shelter during the Cuban missile crisis. Not knowing that the nuclear war never happens, they lived and raised their son in the shelter for 35 years. At which time, Fraser leaves the shelter to a whole new world. Come on, it's like they stole the idea of Captain America and turned it into a comedy. In the movie, Fraser is still old fashion since that's the way he was brought up. Steve Rogers is the same way in the comics. I'm telling you, he was made for the part. Right down to that old fashion square face he has. They just don't make them like that anymore ha ha. Well those are some of the reasons why I think Brendan Fraser should play Captain America. You don't have to agree with me, but I wouldn't mind. Oh, and one last thing. Brendan Fraser is rumored to be playing Gung-Ho in the upcoming G.I. Joe movie. If it's true, that's just another role that would prepare him for this part.

Hmmmm. Brenden Fraser, huh? I hadn't thought of him in the role, but yeah, I can see it.
there are actors actually to play these exciting part in Captain america. The one person who has come so close to it is Matt Damon. The difference is the height, thats all,he has the ideas,skills,persuasiveness,e.t.c.Apart from him i will say no one else.Except if they bring in people like Val kilmer, obviousely that is something we don't want to think about,Van damme unfortunately has past his time and the words that proceed from his mouth is like oh my gush!! it will take years for him to speak like a true born cap america. Vin diesel would have been okay but the head isn't right. Brat pitt is another solution but the question is,can he do it?Ryan McPartlin is not to much of skill, i think josh hartnett will find the role quite big for him to play.Brenden Fraser is okay,i mean he has the structure and height, the question is,does he have the other characteristics of Captain America,i doubt that. And giving a chance to someone to prove himself is not in the question this is a big film, which will not allow mistake. The person who is to do these most have proved himself worthy of it.And i say Matt is the guy.
As soon as i saw the headline I knew who you were going to pick to be steve rogers.
I somewhat agree with your pick even though Marvel would probably go with someone like Matthew McConaughey or worse someone like John Cena.
Let hope they make the right decision.
While I agree that Brendan Fraser has the right look, there's just something he's missing to me. I don't see the sense of leadership and charisma that playing the part requires. Cap is one of those people that is so revered and respected that an actor needs to be someone of the same caliber. I just don't see Fraser commanding that kind of respect and authority on screen.
yea - let's really hope marvel dosent screw this up - i want this to be amazing - anyway - cap' is just one really hard guy to potray - i dont think fraser could pull it off w/ much success - although he could pull it off - yea for me damon is the definate actor to play this roll - i can see him fitting there perfectly - he has the skill and physicall features to potray a superhero - anyway last i heard they were thinking about brad pitt - that would be a very very sad day
Matt Damon could never be Captian America. Who ever is selected should have strong Conservative values and be true to the America Way. Damon is a Commie and should never be allowed to touch the Captain America image. The man for the job must be a true Patriot! The American people are not fools & should not be treated as such, especially the die hard Capt. America fans.
I think we're ten years past acctually casting him, In the 90's I beleive Howie Long or maybe Brian bosworth would have be perfect!!!
There's only one man in my mind who can successfully portray the cap: Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Think about it. You know I'm right.
matt damon and fraser would be good but what about someone like Christian Bale. He has the physique and hieght and definitely the attitude. I think he did so well in the batman movies that he could pull it off.
Fraser is a good choice but I don't think his voice could carry the command that the role would require. As far as football players go, I have to say that Peyton Manning would be the best choice!!!
Hey guys, I wanted to know more about Captain America, and came across this blog, good stuff. However, I definitely disagree with Brendan Frasier. While your logic is spot on, I still feel like Frasier is too goofy, and just doesn't have the look we would see in a Captain America. I don't know if this was said yet.....but Jon Hamm, from Mad Men. Check out the pic. FANTASTIC actor, fits in the era, and is already there physically. I think he already has a superhero role set up, but I forget which one he's going to play.

They should have picked Matthew Fox
